Seek Out A Male Mentor

Hey there, it's Graham from The Confident Man Project, and I want to talk to you today about the importance of finding some mentors or a mentor. Everybody who is successful in life has people behind the scenes that are teaching them and mentoring them and helping them take the next step from where they currently are towards where it is that they want to go.

You may not know this because often the mentors are hidden. The mentors generally do not advertise themselves, but you can bet your bottom dollar that ever successful person out there has one or people in their lives who are mentoring them specifically to help them to achieve the sort of success in life that they want.

So wherever you are in life; CEOs have mentors, beginner business-people have mentors, just anyone starting out in any kind of field. Whether they're starting out or whether they're already successful, everybody has a mentor in those areas that helps them to get what it is that they want in life.

The reason why mentors are really important - like even massive sports stars have coaches, and often the coaches are not as good at the sport that they're coaching as the player and yet the coach has a unique perspective because they can see things that the person being coached can't see.

And this is why it's really important for everybody to have a mentor because your mentor can see things about you that you're not able to see yourself and will therefore be able to give you some coaching and some tips that can help you to overcome whatever challenge it is that you're facing so that you can be the best that you can be.

Now, I have had and continue to have a whole stack of mentors in my life that teach me a bunch of very important things so that I can keep moving forward and keep achieving the results that I want or start achieving results that I want in areas where I'm not currently experiencing them.

So mentors are absolutely vital. They come in a lot of forms. Some mentors teach you one-on-one or come around and talk to you. Other mentors write books about their personal experience or create online training courses like this one. And so there are a whole bunch of different ways that you can be mentored by people depending on the personality and the preferences of the mentor.

Some mentors like working one-on-one with people and find that most rewarding. Other mentors like me prefer to mentor people one-on-many so that I can impact a lot of people all at the one time and make a bigger difference in the world.

If you want to make a difference in the world, it's important that you get a mentor so that you can start to learn the things that you need to learn and move forward in life much more quickly than if you have to learn absolutely everything all by yourself which gets kind of lonely and just means you don't progress in life as quickly.

There's an ancient Chinese proverb, I think - I don't know if it's Chinese but it's something like that - where they say that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

So start readying yourself and just be open to the idea of attracting a mentor into your life and then start looking around for somebody who can teach you either in person or online or through a book the things that you're really looking for that will boost your confidence because a mentor can give you the confidence that you're looking for in times when you're not feeling all that confident yourself because maybe you're only just starting out on something or you've got some issue that you're struggling with that you haven't really resolved yet.

Look around for a mentor and just keep an open mind and notice when the teacher appears in your life.
